CEREC Machine

CEREC Machine

Have you heard about 3D printing? It’s a very exciting technology that allows you to design an object and actually mill it out to your exact specifications in just minutes. Layer by layer, a custom form can be produced before your very eyes and the possibilities are endless. In the dental world, CEREC accomplishes this and can create ready-to-place crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers in just one visit.  What once required two-to-three weeks for a complete procedure now takes about an hour.

We are happy to provide this capability to our patients. The CEREC machine amounts to less wait time, a more comfortable procedure, and high quality results. You can come in for an appointment for a restorative and leave with a perfectly suited, permanent crown, inlay, onlay or set of veneers that very same day.

The CEREC machine eliminates the need for:

  • Messy and uncomfortable tooth impressions

  • Laboratory fabrication and resulting wait time

  • Temporary crowns

  • Return appointments for placement

If you’re wondering how CEREC can make your smile restoration more efficient and comfortable, we welcome your questions and the opportunity to show you how this exciting technology can help you.

Tooth Colored Fillings

Tooth Colored Fillings

For many years, cavity care often left you with a highly visible, metallic filling. Silver amalgam fillings are affordable, durable and effective for protecting your tooth from further decay, but there are now more aesthetically pleasing alternatives that provide the many of the same advantages and eliminate many downsides associated with amalgam.  Tooth colored fillings, sometimes called composite or glass fillings, are a great choice for look of your smile and the protection of your teeth. If you’re thinking about updating old fillings or you suspect you may need cavity care, consider the following advantages that come with tooth colored fillings:

  • Tooth-colored fillings are better to use in the visible portion of your smile. They are virtually indistinguishable from the rest of your natural enamel.

  • Tooth colored fillings don’t expand and contract with temperature and result in sensitivity to hot and cold substances.

  • Tooth colored fillings last long and shouldn’t need replacement as long as you take proper care of your teeth on a daily basis and visit for regular checkups.

To determine whether or not tooth colored fillings are the best option for you, we welcome you visit and get the answers to all of your questions.

Porcelain Veneers

Chances are we would all like to change something about ourselves.  When it comes to our smiles, we might have concerns about the alignment, cracks, spaces, or the overall brightness.  For my patients that want to get rid of these flaws, I offer a complete smile makeover with veneers.  A veneer is made of a porcelain material that is strong, long lasting, and gives the appearance of a natural smile.  Each veneer is customized to fit the patients smile, covering each tooth with a functional and cosmetic solution.  They are then bonded to the tooth with a specialized material that is meant to last a lifetime.

The needs of every patient are different.  If you think that you are interested in making over your smile with veneers, it is best to call me at my office and schedule an appointment for a consultation where we can discuss the best options for you.

Root Canals

Root canals have been thought of as one of the most dreaded dental procedures.  Even when my patients are familiar with the new, advanced dental technology available, there are still misconceptions surrounding the procedure.  Most of this aversion to root canals is due to a misunderstanding of the process.  Modern technology has made it so that root canals are virtually painless.  Digital x-rays, precision instruments, and effective dental anesthetic have made it possible to accurately target infections with a less invasive procedure.  This has, in turn, shortened the length of the healing process.  Any discomfort that is felt during this period can be relieved with over-the-counter painkillers.

If you are still concerned about your root canal or endodontic procedure, feel free to call my office with any questions you may have.

Tooth Colored Fillings

Many of the patients that visit my office with cavities are nervous.  They want to know how the filling will affect their teeth both during and after the procedure. Fillings no longer have to be made from the less aesthetically pleasing metal amalgam material.  I offer tooth colored fillings that match the natural shade of the tooth, blending in with the rest of your smile.  Here’s a few of the advantages:

  • ·         Tooth colored fillings don’t conduct heat like metal does.  Patients are less likely to be sensitive to temperature changes.

  • ·         It is a less invasive filling, requiring less tooth modification.  More of the natural tooth structure can be left in your mouth.

  • ·         It hardens faster than metal, making it easier for chewing and decreasing your risk of damage.

  • ·        They aren’t inherently noticeable when smiling, talking, or chewing.

With tooth colored fillings, you no longer need to be worried about the results.  I make sure that the procedure is comfortable for patients and they are left with a smile that is healthy and beautiful.

Extractions

Extractions

The extraction of wisdom teeth has become something of a rite of passage for many you people.  And even though it’s a simple, straightforward procedure, the idea of extracting teeth can make some patients very apprehensive.

If you’re wondering how painful your extraction will be, I’m happy to say, minimal to not at all!  During your extraction, local anesthetic and sedation make the procedure itself feel like a deep and comfortable sleep.

Really, the only tough part of your extraction is when you leave the office to rest, recover and heal.  Proper aftercare of an extraction is very important.  This not only means you’ll minimize the moderate swelling and soreness you may experience, it ensures that your gums heal and stay healthy now that there are empty spaces where your wisdom teeth used to be.

When you recuperate from your extraction, make sure to avoid strenuous activity.  You’ll find you probably want to spend the rest of the day with your feet up, and that’s a good thing.  Make sure you follow all prescribed guidelines using the appropriate rises and any after-care medications that we specify.  And last but not least, enjoy soft, mild foods for at least a day or two.  If you haven’t treated yourself to some ice cream, pudding or Jell-O in a while, recovery from a tooth extraction is a great time to do so!

Complete information on what you can expect from a tooth extraction is available right on our website.  My fellow doctors and staff also welcome your call with questions.
